Google Plus Page - How to Set Custom Short URL

It is really interesting that Google stated to think of the short brand URLs instead of the long ones like: plus.google.com/u/0/b/100456744122229823295/, that no one find it attractive at all. This thread will teach you how to do it fast and easy. I try it and it works.

Will separated the steps in order to be more clear and easy to follow it.

How to set up a custom URL for Google Plus Page?

1. You already noticed that the URL will look like this: with an "+" symbol before your brand - google.com/+brand or plus.google.com/+brand. First you need to go to your Google Plus Page -> Dashboard.

2. Secondly, visit For Your Site and the address ends with "dashboard/canvas/sitesettings". Install Badge on your web site. After that add the code to your web site.

3. Get back to your Dashboard, press Edit Page under Overview tab. Now is time to add your site on your website on Google Plus page.

4. Now you need to wait till Google approve and roll your custom brand URL address for your site.

5. You will get an email - notification when you sign in to Google Plus account.

It should be look like this:

6. It will show Get URL button - press it in order to confirm.

7. Now your link should look like: google.com/+brand or plus.google.com/+brand.

There is another way to do it with a site-helper: Gplus.to - Everything is explained there. :)
 
I remember when Google launched it. They need to make it easier than that. Too many stuff to do before getting nice URL address for your Google Plus page.

Does anyone know better and shorter way to do it? Having in mind how much traffic G+ generates me to my web site, I am not in a hurry to work on this at that time. :)

Yes, me.
But I have to say that I`m a little disappointed about my company`s url suggestion. No choice to make and the problem is that for some reason G+ offers me the domain name which is not my brand name...
Oh, by the way - they offered me to change only my personal url and the url address of one of my pages beside the fact that I have two that meet the terms for that type of url.

No. I can`t see why I have the choise about the name when it comes to personal profil but I don`t have it for my business page. It should be the opposite. I want to use my brand name not one of the domain names tha G has chosen for me.

You are the only one. It happens to some of my friends too. I am still waiting for mine. So, some of you are biased. :) Will see what G will suggest me.

I don`t know why. Yes, I`m using it from the begining when it was in beta test and invitation was needed but that doesn`t matter. What really matters is that one, as in the case G+, can`t pretend to be something and demanding from its users, as they do with their rules and the end ...nothing. They were the people that insisted on using pages instead of profiles when it comes to company. Now I can`t use as URL my company`s name because I`m using page, not profile...
At the end it really doesn`t matter. I`ve lived with the digits for so long :)

Yes, I will agree with you. Do do not need to have he brand right now. I will wait till is really necessary or most of the businesses around me have it. Will be more motivated if the it is Facebook thing - some real traffic generator. :)

It is a great move, because when your brand is searched, one of the results in the SERP will this channel. Will be not only in the title - not you have 3 matches - in the best case - title, URL (+brand) and desc., if someone has thought of that.

Setuping custom URL is great , but do you need it. Ask yourself this question. I asked myself, and as I wrote, will do it in near future. Well, there is a chance to do it earlier, when they make it easier. ;)

Something is very wrong with all G`s services.
Those days I manage 3 adwords accounts with two different designs, use chrome who behaves in 3 different ways depending on the pc I`m using it, I can`t find anything in analytics due to the new design there, and G+ app looks in a different way on my phone than it is on my tablet.

You can say that again. No one can know what Google will d next. It refers to all of its products.

No one will ever know. Even the guys in Google. :) This custom URL, or as we have seen above - suggested URL is not so important. And will wait till Google give it to the whole world. :)

By the way a few days ago a friend of mine asked me: Well, you read about G and updates and stuff I don`t really care but what`s wrong with the search results? For the past days and weeks it`s harder for me to find what I`m looking for? In order to find something I have to check the first 4-5 pages or so...

So if somebody who doesn`t care i doesn`t follow the changes can spot the difference and can see it`s not for good what about us?! What about them, the people who make those changes? Can`t they see the elephant in the room? I`m telling you - something is very wrong with all g`s services...
 
I agree with you. Last years Google is making some changes that are not so clear and logical. Having n mind this, people doing their best to make their sites visible in the SERPs of the SE. Most of them getting results that are not what they want and expect.

I can say that I am one of those people that use most of their services and products. But if we need to discus all their stuff, we need to have separate threads for every one - Gmail, Drive, Google+, Webmaster tools, Analytics, AdWords, Web Designer, AdSense, Translater, Maps and etc.

In this thread, Google + are giving suggestions, not like custom your URL of your Google Plus Page. Well, it is better than nothing. :) Those digits are not friendly, but to tell you the true - they do their job in some ways.

Could some one else share his experience with the new URL customisation?

Not truly happy with the option for the custom URLs, I would like to request a new one that actually matches the page name. Great to have it, shame that it can't be changed to the one we would like.

The big paradox here is that major Social networks are not so social when it comes to communicate with their users. :)

There are just social when they need to. Do not think that will be social when it comes to customer services. :) Some else get that "custome" URL as Google said it? I didn't. :) Good luck t te oters. ;)
