Having in mind the last feedbacks about HostGator, will think of buying hosting from them. So, keep this in your mind, when and if you decide to put your trust on them and their services.
A friend of mine used them for more than an year, but after the company was sold, the new owners decided to get rid of the loyal clients by many ways. In this case, the guy wanted to access his site, but with no luck - the company decline the access. And he hasn't got the chance to fix the problem, he had. Meanwhile the support was convincing him to get a dedicated servers. Of course his patience reached the highest level and he rejected all the 3 hosting plans he had with them. The sites was moved to a VPS, much more cheaper than the HostGator shared plan. From this moment he hasn't got any problems, the sites are stable and the traffic increased.
According to all of this, I personally recommend to get an Unmanaged VPS and to pay a guy to setup and fix the issues, if there is some. It will be much more cheaper and won't bring you headaches...
I do not want to spread hate here, but we all see how HG went from a big and strong company, specialized in providing share hosting to the level of the smalls hosting wanna-be companies.
By the way, I also agree with that.
I had a VPS with HostGator for more than 2 years....in the end they start charging me for every single thing. Had a problems with my site....who cares...
So, the right choice here is - look up for another one. Anyway....Happy Birthday.
