I was an interesting thread in the Bulgarian section of the forum, so I decided to post it here with my own words.

So, the question is really interesting and want to know how mush of the webmasters here have ever sold or bought web site. And most important - how you know that the sites costs the money you offer to others or you are offered? Leave alone the sites that gives you this digits. We all know that they are not telling the real price, even closer to that.

The pool is not about buying and sell web sites made for 2-3 days, that cost around $100. The pool want to should real stats and opinions in the posts below. ;)

Buying site is a big investment and this could be change your life for good or bad. ;) Selling site is also a serious and hard work. You can make a fortune or sell it for cents. Having this in mind I want all of the people voting here to leave his opinion, based on his experience. And mostly how he/she knows how much a web site costs and which makes is cost so much.

Thanks a lot for your votes and opinions. I appreciate them. :)

Re: От: Have you ever sold / bought web site?

I've sold a couple of ready to use websites, so this is a nice niche, but you must make the website 100% working and with style :)

I have been seeing one-year old sites (built up and well-managed) at the price of $1200 even more. Well, with the time the site comes with PR and traffic. To be part of this business, you should sell or even buy web sites that have future, as I often mention it. :)

No one will make business with you if the site is junky, no matter you sell or want to buy it.

Please, keep leaving your votes and opinions. ;)

I agree with you. Worldwide sites are much better investment than those in BG or other local marketing, except US, UK, DE, FR, CA and other similar countries. ;)

Buying/creating websites in the few 2-3 years will be the most profitable niche for good business. Most of the people do not watch TV and do not read newspapers. Being CEO of the information flow, makes you unique and independent !!!!

Tried, never had success. Selling a domain or a website is all about the brand before the sale, the traffic, is it organic or is it not. And the reputation it has. I saw one guy on Flippa and in his profile he had around $260K in sales for the last two years. One of his domains sold for $75K and the domain was mediocre at least. And even if it wasn't "mediocre", I believe domain and website and business markets like these have fake users that bid on their own auctions and that is not only tolerated by the platform but it's the platform's own strategy as well. Nobody just gets out of the blue and sells a domain as a new seller for $75K. No one. Maybe if you own www.youtube.com, fine. But selling something like www.greatcookieniceone.com is not worth this money. The market is overrated, the domain names are overrated. Up to $3K is doable I'd say, but no more than that. That is my opinion and I don't want to bind anyone with it. Greets!

P.S. I tried selling a few short and nice domains for the sake of the test. I auctioned them with reserved prices, and the most I got was $10 on a few of them. Not on Flippa of course, but on a different forum-like market. $10 for something that's worth way more than that. I told them to go kiss their mothers on the foreheads. Started developing them eventually. It's not worth it in most of the cases to sell. The good domains get grabbed before you even thought about them. They put pre-orders and get them early. They pay a lot of money to specialized companies that do the whole pre-ordering.

#2 P.S. The only thing that sells is the .com. Everything else outside the .com range is for pennies, if you're fortunate enough for someone to give you his pennies. It's sad but it is what it is. People are like sheep. They remember one thing, get used to it, and don't ever want to change.
